Why we offer virtual bra fittings

Finding the right bra size can be tricky, and a huge percentage of women are wearing the wrong one (estimates sit at around 85% 😲). Of course, lots of stores offer in-person fittings, but let’s face it, you’re busy, and being squeezed and tucked by a stranger isn’t high on your agenda. 

Our online fittings make it easy to get professional advice from the comfort of your own home. After one appointment, you’ll learn what a good fit feels like and be able to start building a bra drawer that works for your body.

Is an online bra fitting private?

Absolutely. Every virtual fitting is completely private and confidential. It’s a secure one-to-one session between you and one of our trained fit specialists. You’re in control of how much you show and share. If you’re happy to show us how your current bra fits, great! Or, if you’d prefer to talk through your current fit rather than show us on camera, that’s totally fine too.

How does an online fitting work?

It’s easy, and much less awkward than you might imagine. Here’s how it goes:

1. Book a session at a time that suits you.

2. Chat with your fitter via video call or phone.

3. Tell/show us your current bra, how it feels, what you like, what’s not working.

4. Our fitters will ask you questions about your current bra, which might include:

• Are your straps digging in or slipping off?

• Does your band feel firm or ride up at the back?

• Is the underwire sitting flat against your chest?

• Do your cups gape, wrinkle, or spill over?

5. Your fitter will guide you through simple checks (band tension, cup coverage, strap placement) to pinpoint your true size.

6. We’ll discuss options that are the best match for you. 

You’ll finish the session knowing your correct band and cup size, which styles suit your shape best, and how to put your bra on properly, yes, there’s a right way (and it changes everything).

Why does the right fit matter?

Women throughout New Zealand are wearing the wrong size bra, and most of the time, it’s a band that’s far too loose. Many women don’t realise that it’s actually your band that is meant to do most of the work in lifting your breasts, not your straps. When you’re wearing the right band, all your straps do is bring the top of the cups snug against your body.

• Why are online bra calculators wrong?

Most online bra calculators rely on tape measurements alone, and human bodies just aren’t that standardised. Your fat distribution, breast shape, and how your tissue sits all change how a bra fits in real life. Rose & Thorne bras are designed with Forgiving Fit technology, which dramatically improves the likelihood of getting the right fit from a calculator, but our one-to-one online fittings give you the best results in real time. 

• How to measure bra size online

If you want to find your own answers, our Bra Fit Tools make it easy to measure yourself at home with simple step-by-step guides. But if you’d rather skip the tape, book a Virtual Bra Fitting instead. 

• Do I have to take my top off during an online fitting?

Not at all, it’s completely your choice. Many women keep a thin singlet or T-shirt on during their session. Our fitters can assess size and shape through conversation and basic visual cues. Your privacy always comes first.

• Do I need a measuring tape for my fitting?

Nope! You can bring one if you’d like, but our fitters are experts at working with what they see and hear. They’ll ask a few questions about how your current bra feels and fits, that’s usually all they need to find your best size.

• How long does an online bra fitting take?

Most sessions take 20–30 minutes, which is enough time to chat through the bra you’re currently wearing, try on a few other bras if you have them, and walk away knowing exactly what to look for in your next bra.

• Is the fitting really private?

Yes, fittings are 100% private and confidential. It’s a one-to-one session with one of our trained fit specialists, and nothing is recorded. You’re also in full control of what you choose to show.
